Privacy Policy
Your recordings and transcripts are yours. Here's how we keep it that way.
Last updated: April 6, 2026
Wavelogs is built on a simple principle: your recordings and transcripts are yours. This policy explains what data we collect, how we handle it, and the choices you have.
Your Data Stays on Your Device
Wavelogs performs voice transcription entirely on your device. Your audio recordings, transcripts, and folders never leave your iPhone or iPad unless you explicitly choose to generate an AI summary.
We do not upload, store, or have access to your recordings or transcripts on our servers.
AI Summaries
When you request an AI-powered summary, the transcript text for that recording is sent to our secure server for processing. Here's how that works:
- Your transcript text is sent to our backend over an encrypted connection.
- We use OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini model to generate the summary.
- The generated summary is returned to your device and stored locally.
- We do not retain your transcript text or summary content on our servers after processing is complete.
Transcript text sent for summarization is subject to OpenAI's API data usage policy. OpenAI does not use data submitted via their API to train their models.
Account & Authentication
Wavelogs offers optional sign-in via Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In. When you create an account, we store:
- A unique user identifier
- Your email address (if provided by your sign-in method)
- Account creation date
This information is stored securely via Supabase and is used solely for account management and to track your summary usage against your plan limits.
You can use Wavelogs without creating an account. An account is only required to access AI summary features.
Subscription & Purchase Data
If you subscribe to Wavelogs Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We receive:
- Your subscription status (active, expired, trial)
- Product identifier and plan type
- Transaction timestamps
We do not receive or store your payment method, credit card number, or Apple ID password.
Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics (without advertising identifier support) to understand how Wavelogs is used in aggregate. This includes:
- General usage patterns (e.g., which features are used, session duration)
- App performance and crash data
- Device type and OS version
We do not collect your Apple advertising identifier (IDFA). Analytics data is not linked to your recordings, transcripts, or summaries.
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
- We do not serve advertisements.
- We do not store your recordings or transcripts on our servers.
- We do not use your data to train AI models.
- We do not share your data with data brokers or marketing platforms.
Data Retention
- On-device data (recordings, transcripts, summaries, folders): Stored only on your device. Deleted when you delete them in the app or uninstall Wavelogs.
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us.
- Usage tracking data: Summary usage counters are retained to enforce plan limits and reset monthly.
Data Security
All data transmitted between Wavelogs and our servers is encrypted using TLS. Account data is stored in a secured, access-controlled database. On-device data is protected by your device's built-in encryption and access controls.
Children's Privacy
Wavelogs is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
